Access to Your Personal Information and Changing Your Personal Information
Once you've registered, you can change your personal information at any time by logging in and clicking on Edit My Profile. This page contains the entire registration form, and you can change anything you like, such as your email address, your profile name, or your preference for having automatic emails sent to you about new members.
Traffic and Statistical Logging
Singles with Scruples compiles statistics about members in order to assess the effectiveness of its service. For example, we routinely track the male-to-female ratio of members and make efforts to keep the ratio in balance. We also track hits to some pages of the site to determine what parts of the site interest you most. None of this information tells us anything about your personally. It only gives us aggregate numbers of the entire group.
Cookies
A cookie is a small bit of information that a website saves to your hard disk. Most sites use cookies to identify you when you return to the site so that they can personalize your experience. If you've ever registered at Amazon.com, for example, a cookie on your hard drive tells them when you return to the site and what your preferences are.
Singles with Scruples does not use this form of cookie. Rather, we use a form of cookie called a server session variable. This is a number used to identify a user after he or she has logged in. The number is unique to each individual session and means nothing to anyone but our server. It expires within 20 minutes after you leave the site or are no longer using it. Server session variables are important when a site is password-protected, as is Singles with Scruples. If we did not use server session variables, a user's member number and password would have to be sent to every page viewed, which would make the site unsecure.
Our site won't work properly if you don't have cookies enabled on your browser. You can, however, set your browser to notify you when a site is attempting to save a cookie on your hard drive. You can then accept or reject this action. Each browser works a little differently, so you might need to consult your "Help" menu to learn about setting and changing your cookie preferences.
Email from Us
When you first register at Singles with Scruples, we send you an automatic email that contains a welcome message with general instructions about the site and your member number and password. We also send automatic emails notifying you when a message is waiting for you at the site.
Once you're registered and you log in, you'll be given the option to receive automatic emails about new members who meet criteria that you select. The default on this option is "No," so you will not be sent any of these emails unless you specifically change the default to "Yes." You can switch back to "No" at any time.
Other than the above, you will get no regular emails from us, but you might get an occasional email under the following circumstances:
* If you haven't submitted a photo within a few days of registering, we usually will send you email reminder about this because it's very important to have a photo online.
* If you haven't written a substantial Bio within a few days of registering, we usually will send you 1 email reminder about this before we delete your profile.
* If we receive a question or complaint about you, we might email you about this.
* On rare occasions we have a major change in the site that requires we communicate with all members.
* On rare occasions we have to go offline for planned maintenance and will notify members in advance by email if possible.
